I have a question:
I use cyprus mulch from the store to put around plants in the flower beds when landscaping. If I keep doing this year after year, is it going to affect the pH of the soil enough that I would need to balance it out?

I'd appreciate your input on this.

As organic matter increase in the soil, there is a tendency for soil pH to get lower (more acid). So eventually you might need to adjust the pH. But it'd depend upon the pH level you started with, and how much organic matter you have added. If your native soils tend to be acidic anyway, you'd reach that point sooner. If your soil started out alkaline, it might never get to that point. A soil test is always a good idea.
