Hey,
I'm new to this forum, so first off: hello......glad to find y'all!

I'm looking for short-day onion varieties that store well. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here are ones I've come across in catalogs but haven't tried - if anyone has experience with any of these, I'd love to hear about it:

> Baker Creek sells one called Red Creole that they say is a good keeper, good for the South.

> Seeds of Change sells a few varieties that they call "short to intermediate" or "adaptable to short and long days" and that they say store well: Riverside, Torpedo Red Bottle, and Valencia.

Has anyone grown these varieties or have any other varieties to suggest?

Hello, Milkweed, welcome to Idig. I haven't grown heirloom onions, just generic varieties. There was a recent thread about onions. You might want to do a search for it.

Hey Milkweed,
I'm a newbie too! We seem to be in the same zone and we have very good luck with Yellow Granex.
We buy plants for late Feb early March planting. They bulb and store well as well as being right tasty!

Valencia from Seeds of Change is very adaptable, delicious, and
a willing grower. Can't help with storage info as I never grew them
for that purpose.

I have always found the company reliable, so I would feel comfortable
accepting their evaluation of Valencia's storage capabilities.
