Several days ago I tried to send an e-mail to Emilee. After no response, I figured that she and Jere must still be on their honeymoon. So I asked Myrna in an e-mail, if that was in fact the case. No response; then I remembered that she was going to be on vacation. I don't know if she still is. Is anyone in the know?

Myrna was back from vacation as of yesterday.
Jere is expected back sometime in the coming week. But the Silver Dollar City thing is right around the corner. He was frightfully busy with it for weeks beforehand last year. And that was without being a newlywed!

I live pretty close to Silver Dollar City; only about 20 or 25 minutes away. I don't know much about it though; do you have to pay to get in?

I think you do have to pay admission but I'm really not sure. I've not been there yet myself.

We have some neighbors who buy season tickets (in April) which are a good deal if you're planning on going more than once. I THINK it's like ... $45 per day to get in, otherwise.

45 BUCKS! WHAT IN THE BLUE HEAVEN...everyone has to pay that much just to meet Jere and Emilee, and see their heirloom produce display?

That's admission to Silver $$ City. Once inside you get to meet Jere for free!

silver dollar city is a unique amusment park , our landscape guy used to work there :0 we stole him away :D
its a mixture of roller coasters and traditional ozarks crafters, combined with family entertainment, its not wild rowdy or rude, its a christian based organization , they host a huge veggie tales bash in the spring
but you can watch them make home made pork rinds, soap , candles stained glass a blacksmith , and all that stuff, plus ride a few coasters , a train that goes around the park ,all different kinds of shows, mainly country and bluegrass music
like any amusement park , its pricey, dont go with less than 100.00 spending cash , (per adult) the best deal in the whole place is to buy one of the collector mugs, then you get half reduced price refills at all the venders (and if you ever go back you can bring the mug BACK for the same reduced price refills again!)
the hot apple cider is killer ! and theres a place that is called , i think the country skillet, they make a big hash of sausage potatoes onions in a huge skillet, its not a restraunt, its a booth , and its just WONDERFULL!
this late in the year a lot of the little shoppes have clearance sales, and if youre cautious you can get some good gifts....the beauty of shopping there is you dont have to carry anything, they will send it up to the front desk and you can pick it up when you leave! and thats a free service.....
yes we've been there a time or two , if you livei n stone or taney county you get really reduced price tickets, and i used to work for a ticket outlet so when we lived up there we got comp tickets ....
if youre planning on a getaway its a lot of fun , the wilder teens wont like it, cause its not "just" ridesits like the website says a historical theme park ....

We went there ONCE, as "Guests" of our neighbors who had season tickets. The rides can be Kinda Wild ... actually. Some horrifyin' roller coasters ... we went on only one ... our neighbor said it was "for kids" ... after that, DH said she was tryin' to kill him & wouldn't believe her anymore. Best ride for DH was the logs on the little river that runs through the park ... just mild waterfalls & people squirting you with squirt guns at one spot.

I couldn't give two shucks about the food; the history is interesting--but the cost to get in the gate is just absurd.

from what soapymomma said it sounds not to much money with all you can see and do :)
