I plant my bulbs and flowers in nice good size colored pots. My garden is kinda small so I plant my veggies any where I can find space.

Oh, I don't think my garden is very naturalistic at all. I like it to be kind of formal, with hedges and a pretty geometric arrangement. Once it fills in it doesn't look severe. I am lightening up on the geometric arrangement in the front bed, so that is more like a dwarf hedge and formal "infrastructure" of tall japanese holly and then I think I'll surround it with drifts of flowers punctuated with taller flowers here and there.

I'm not much of a flower gerdener, just can't seem to wrap my brain around it. My veggie garden has a very rustic look, what with the salvage lumbar raised beds and sapling A-frame tomato trellises. We jokingly call it Little Williamsburg in reference to Historic Williamsburg in Virginia. Add to that the fact that I cram as much into a limited space as I can, which also makes it feel like something from a Living History museum. I wish I had some pictures to share, but we got our digital camera too late this year, maybe nest year!

I use the "Ladybug Habitat" method... big ragweeds and sassafras around the edges. :o
My herb garden is separated, but has berries in it. It wil be moved to a sunnier spot by the asparagus in a permanent spot. I had a three sisters garden, but the horse got the corn, and the chickens got the baby squash. Drought got the beans. I like formal and rustic, so my poor garden is confused looking, schizophrenic like it's caretaker (HOD) just kidding ow stop it

now I've dun it

Mine is a work in progress, but formal enough to satisfy my A.R. side. Within a formal layout, however, there is an informal planting scheme. I have roughly 12 beds, 4' wide by 21' long, and a narrower strip surrounding the whole thing in the form of a rectangle in which I plant various and sundry odds and ends with the hopes of attracting beneficial insects. In the four corners I have compost bins so there is never one too far from where I'm working.

We just started square foot gardening. It's been a blessing! My first attempt at a natural looking garden turned into a weeded overgrown mess because I could not easily get into certain places and that's where the weeds would hide until they were ready to spread again... in a day.
