The summer Show is almost here! Everyone here at Baker creek is bustling about, working to get everything ready. (O.K, maybe going crazy is a little closer to the mark....but we can go crazy while we bustle, cain't we??) There's been a (for us) unprecedented amount of publicity, so we're anticipating a record turnout. This time there'll be music at three different locations around the grounds, more food vendors, etc. SO I hope everyone comes down! We'd love to see ya!

Are new varieties being introduced to the Baker Creek collection as people bring them?

Sorry to reply so late...we're getting back to normal here, but slowly!

We do get new varieties from private individuals. I bought myself three magnificant tomatoes (from a guest, not a regular vendor) that were said to be called "Red Wolf." And after the last show a person brought me seeds of an heirloom from the Cowan family, which they called collards but I wonder if it might be kale...Anyway it did have round leaves like a collard but purple veining...very lovely. But in both cases, growing them out and trialing them is my personal project. At some time I might try to sell them to Jere. And I know that he has had many many similar contacts over the years. We certainly keep our eyes open and try to be receptive.

But what I'm really trying to say here is that it's a long process, going from a family's heirloom seeds to selling them at the store.
