Hi

I just found a pack of Delphinium seeds that I bought last year but didnt sow because I forgot. Has anyone planted this beautiful perinnial flower before and what results did you have from sowing the seeds before transplanting? Is it true I can have flowers this year if I sow now as pack says? Thanks a bunch:D

Before we go any further...you have to have fresh seed.
Even fresh it is about half 50% germination rate.
After it is grown and flowered...you can spread the seeds for next year.
Like full sun
Beautiful plant, one of my favorites!
Pacific Giants...

The seeds have an expiration date of July 2010. This is the Pacific Giant I got. So the pack says sow indoors and it is a perinnial plant?

Pacific Giant is a hardy perennial.
Enjoy!

Luvs is right. I got bout' 50% germination out of Pacific Giants. Got 100% out of a dwarf variety. Here I'm growing them as annuals(long growing season.) They might not make it through the heat. Most (many) perennials will flower the first year given the length of the growing season. A lot of flowers considered annuals in one zone are short lived perennials in another. My last years snapdragons are getting ready to flower right now. A lot of things that are'nt usually grown here ( because of the heat or the heavy winter rains are doing well) gladiolas, dahlias,
2nd year coming back. A good gardening year. I hope.

I concur with Growing...

Yes you should have blooms with your long growing season.
