There are three errors that I have noticed in the 2006 Baker Creek catalog.
1. The Eden's Gem melon is listed as synonymous with Rocky Ford. In fact, Eden's Gem and Rocky Ford are not synonymous. The confusion arises from Eden's Gem being referred to as "the green-fleshed Rocky Ford", by comparison to the closest orange variety.
2. The Jarrahdale pumpkin is misspelled "Jaradale", unless there are two spellings.
3. Lovage's botanical name, Levisticum officinalis, is misspelled (an extra "i" has been inserted into "Levisticum".

Let he who has not misspelled cast the first stone. Oh, wait...
But seriously, I find the errors forgiveable. And I know there is only so much space, but stonysoil's request for maturity dates is a good idea. I would like to add a request for daylength type on onions. I might buy some if I knew if they would grow here or not...
Then again, I don't suppose any of us have ever had to attempt such a task as publishing the Baker Creek catalog? That's a LOT of information!

Some attempt is already in the works to address all of these concerns. Myrna, who is the managing editor of HG has been working on this for weeks now, with some help from me. Around Baker Creek **I** am the spell check for botanicals!! Well, me and Hortus III.
The catalog is an enormous amount of text, and this is the first year that Jere has had this much help in fine-tuning it. We hope you will find next year's catalog a subtle improvement.
We've certainly had some spirited discussions about the intricacies of hyphenation lately....

Redbrick - lol! I think everything we said is taken lightly here and the good folks are alredy working on fixig it! Why this catalog could become a collectors item because of these problems!

As long as everybody is making request I would like to add one.
What I would like to see Is the average size on the winter squashes.

I have found that days to maturity don't necessarily correspond with days to harvest, especially in cucurbits because the male flowers usually come first.

Another vote for average maturity dates (I usually have to add 7-20 days to get a true estimate for both direct growing and transplants in my plots), or at least note somewhere please if short season means 90 days or under, please please please.
