Here is Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) on June 27, 2005 on the House Floor:

"Those who argue that housing prices are now at a point of a bubble seem to me to be missing a very important point. Unlike previous examples we have had when substantial excessive inflation of prices later caused problems we are talking here about an entity, home ownership, homes where there is not the degree of leverage where we have seen elsewhere. This is not the dot-com situation. We had problems with people having invested in business plans of which there was no reality; people building fiber optic cables for which there was no need. Homes that are occupied may see an ebb and flow in the price at a certain percentage level. But you're not going to see the collapse that you see when people talk about a bubble and so those of us on our committee in particular will continue to push for home ownership."

Typical politician speak, undecipherable to the rest of us. Some one with skills should make a sculpture of a sock in the shape of a screw's threads. Then "we the people" could award it to our "favorite" politician with the caption: "SO CROOKED, YA HAVE TO SCREW ON YOUR SOCKS!" Oh for the days of real hard hittting political cartoons...aka "the yellow boy".

Olberman had a woman talking about carbon dioxide yesterday...can't find it, but then there's this...:D

Boehner on video: Concerns about carbon dioxide ‘almost comical’

http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/butlercountynews/entries/2009/04/22/boehner_concerns_about_carbon.html

On This Week with George Stephanopoulos, U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-West Chester Twp., issued the following assessment of climate change:

“The idea that carbon dioxide is a carcinogen that is harmful to our environment is almost comical. Every time we exhale, we exhale carbon dioxide. Every cow in the world, when they do what they do, you’ve got more carbon dioxide.”

When pressed by Stephanopoulos on the Republican plan to deal with climate change:

“It’s clear we’ve had change in our climate, the question is how much does man have to do with it, and what is the proper way to deal with it.”
