I've been getting Rodales' Organic Gardening but it only comes out 6 times a year @ $25.00. Wondering if you have any recommendations? I'd like a change.

These days, the only mag I feel is worth reading is Heirloom Gardener. No, I'm not sucking up, that's really how I feel. OG reads more like an advertisement or a movie trailer than the reference source it used to be. Mother Earth News just about ignores anything garden related any more. Any other mags that I've tried concentrate on flowers to exclusion. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're great if that's your thing. It's not mine. I hope there are some other mags that some of you found that do fit the bill.

If you ever are lucky enough to find any of the old '60s/70's Organic Gardening in garage/yard/estate sale, you've struck the mother lode--less prettified and far more practical.

Yeah and try to find the issues, small sized ones, that came out before the magazine went to all ads. They had great information!

Heirloom Gardener really is the most suited to those really interested in gardening...

There are some magazines devoted to gardening in specific states - don't know if PA is one of them... One would think so.

I haven't found any, not that I put a lot of effort into it, though.

Don't forget the '80s! Those three decades were Rodale's glory days, IMHO!

I've got a subscription, and used to keep ALL my old copies. Now, they are all available on-line, so I got rid of the magazines.

Y'all, I've been reading Mother Earth News for over 30 years and still get lots of good information from it. However, it does focus on the lifestyle of homesteading and self-reliance -- a very good thing for folks to consider.

OG is a fun, short read. The subscription price has come down recently and they are even offering to give 2 friends free subs for the price of yours. A friend and I have been giving these back and forth for several years, now.

I would love to have a look at the Heirloom Gardener . . .

D'Butterfly where can I take advantage of this offer? "The subscription price has come down recently and they are even offering to give 2 friends free subs for the price of yours." I've looked on OG's web site and can't find anything about it there.

I receive the offers in the mail -- usually attached to issues, either on the outside as a wrapper or on the inside as a "fallout" card. The current one I have is an offer to give 3 subs for the price of renewing mine -- $23.94. In the past, my friend and I have given each other one sub and the other to our local libraries. It's a winner for everybody!

I'm not sure why anyone would want to buy the "Archive CDs" from Mother Earth News, since I believe every article is available FREE, on-line.
