I'm curious what everyone is eating for the 4th? Did you get it out of your garden? Do you have any special traditions? Post your recipes so everyone can share!

Well, I had to rip out a Yellow Pear tomato that was loaded with green tomatoes, so this afternoon I'm going to cook up a batch of green tomato relish, that I hope will be the perfect accompaniment to grilled Italian sausage. If I like it, I'll post a link to the recipe. If I don't, I'll only have wasted a few green tomatoes that wouldn't fry anyway!

I didn't really get much from my garden for the 4th. It is at that in between time, when the tomatoes, eggplant, cukes, beans, and all those things are just starting here, and the greens and cool weather things are on their way out. I used some kohlrabi, plus I used some of the early shallots, chilis, and herbs in the satay dishes, but not much else. Soon...
