Now I know I have no ripe maters yet however I am noticing a bit of a trend in the amount of baby maters I am finding.Nothing is rotting. No major bug damage ( that's new) . The mater in the lead with most maters on the vine so far is Cosmonaut Volkov followed by Cowlick Brandywine and then Thessolanikki. Pink Brandywine is fourth and fifth is Al Kuffa and the reason for this is Al Kuffa was planted late and has not had a chance to bloom and fruit to its full potential. We shall see what happens later down the road.It could change big time.

Glad to hear that Cosmonaut Volkov is producing well. It's one that I'm considering trying next year.

Trying new varieties is fun, is it not? The only problem is that I don't have enough room to grow my favorites plus all the new ones. Well, I guess the other problem is that my &$@! tomatoes won't ripen already! I have a dozen new varieties that I can't wait to taste! *sigh*

Kevin,

I have seen you mention the Thessaloniki a few times. I had seed for it, but none of germinated...or so I thought. I have 2 unknown tomato plants in my garden. I thought they were pearly pinks but now I can tell they definitely aren't. Can you take a picture of your Thessaloniki's or describe them so that I can tell if one of the maters I have growing is one? I know they are red, but what is the shape and size?

Thanks!
GGG

Hi,

I have pics posted here.http://idigmygarden.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21082

This is my first year growing them. This is the description. Thessaloniki
60-80 days. The Greek tomato that was introduced to the USA in the 1950’s by Glecklers Seedsmen, of Ohio. It is a popular large, red uniform fruit with excellent flavor, high yields and disease resistance. An early variety perfect for home or market, keeps well.

Thanks for letting me know how that Thessaloniki is Kevin. I have that in my seed collection.. but i've never planted any yet. Now i know what to expect.

Love that quote from churchill too..

Hope you're feeling much better now. I know you have some health problems.. just hope they're getting better.
