We we're hiking last night and I came across this bush that was only 2 1/2 ft tall with little yellow flowers on it. The flowers we're loved by bees! They had little pods that held seeds that would pop open with the smallest amount of pressure. The flowers would be considered a bell of some sort.
If anyone has any idea please respond. I saved a million seeds from it and would like to know the name.

Could be Touch-Me-Not aka Jewelweed, our native wild impatiens. This comes in yellow or orange, and the flowers sort of hang on the end of thin stems, and have a noticeable spur on the back end. Stems are very fleshy. The plant grows in swampy areas. Could it be this?

Yes it is. :) Thank you so much! They are so beautiful. They are native to Indiana?
There was one VERY small plant of the Orange type. I plan on getting seed from it soon.

I'm also glad to hear that it has such good medicinal properties.

Yes! When I was a kid we would pull jewel weed plants and pulverize the fleshy stems in the blender with a little water to treat our poison ivy and other various woodland rashes. It works great!

Mook beautiful pictures!
Acid, I have a memory of the pods busting open in my hands. But I don't remember the flower. I must have been VERY young.
That memory didn't come back until I tried to figure out where the seeds where. When I first grabbed it it just jumped at me, and then that weird memory came flooding back. It was a weird experience!

It's almost as soothing as aloe vera gel...
It's great if you run into some stinging nettles...and it likes growing in a lot of the same areas nettles do, so there should be some nearby.

I'm glad I haven't run into nettles yet. I couldn't even imagine.
