I was planning on ordering Greek Sweet Red squash this year but I see its not in the new catalouge. So I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some? Sounds like just the squash I am looking for.
Also would like to find other squashes that are claimed to be squash bug resistant. I just cant seem to grow any that arent the bugs eat em up.

Thanks John

sorry can't help, bur resistent squash varieties are few, you can however plant varieties away from your main crops, as a trap crop, a good variety that bugs love is swan neck

We have a grower who had said he had a crop of Greek Sweet Red, but he wasn't able to get the seeds to us in time for inclusion in the 2006 catalog. But I just spoke to him and he said he'll send some at the end of January. I'll post here when they come in and they'll be available by request to those interested in purchasing them.

Most of the Moschata type squash like the butternut varieties are resistant to stem borers and seem to be resistant to most other bugs in my area. waltham butternut, butternut violina, and thai large pumpkin are 3 that I have personally tried. I have heard that the Mixta varieties are resistant to bugs but have no personal experience with them.

zuchetta rampicante is a zuchinni type squash that is resisitant to bugs. it grows over a large area but its fruit is 2 - 3 ft long. harvest when small and use immediately. Longer ones store better. It puts up will in the frezer or pickling. The taste is different than zuchinni though still mild. It is a prolific producer. I love this as there is no such thing as too much squash.

Patty pan squash is another one that appears to be somewhat resistant to squash bugs. I also like to plant onions and garlic around my squash in hope of confusing the bugs alittle. I rather enjoy giving them a hard time. LOL
