You folks sure have given me new interest in squash and pumpkins!
At the grocery I bought a dumpling pumpkin simply because I had never heard of it. It is a very small one you could clean out and use as a dish for dips or stuff and bake. I put it in the microwave after cleaning out then sprinkled with just a bit of sugar and cinnamon. Pine Tree Nurseries says it is a good keeper so I am going to pick up some more and I saved seed to try.
If you run into it give it a try and if you have tried it how did you serve it?

Joan, how does it look like? How's the texture, dry and sweet????? You know me I am always interested in pumpkins and squashes. We are finally going to eat the butternut rogosa violina we grew tonight. If you want seeds I have plenty and anyone else. The problem is that the vines are pretty long if you let them.

Was yours sweet? Mine wasn't sweet (see thread in Heirloom Gardening).

I can't say sweet that I could have eaten it plain. Sprinkled with just the slightest bit of cinnamon and sugar. But I saved seed and will send you some if you send me your address again please.
