Jere, Randel, Andrew,

Just got word that BC will be hosting monthly festivals, in addition to the spring and fall shows, beginning in April.

What's the format? Similar to the current ones, or entirely different?

George, the idea is to provide an ongoing venue for the little subculture that's emerging around our festivals. They will basically be like the main ones have been, only smaller. Since the draw would (presumably) be smaller, we anticipate fewer vendors, perhaps just local ones. We figure vendors will be less likely to drive from great distances, though they'll certainly be welcome if they do. There'll be the usual music, again probably smaller and with greater emphasis on spontaneous bands--perhaps one paid act per festival instead of a whole slew of 'em. Ditto on speakers.

For folks like me (aspiring plant- or market-growers) it sounds like potentially a good alternative to farmers' markets.

Just a chance for folks to get out in the fresh air and see what's shakin', really. A lot of details still remain to be worked out. If anyone has suggestions to offer in the months ahead, we'll sure consider them!

I hope they don't start happening EVERY month, because it already ties up the whole company when as it is. One thing I like about BC is that it's "accessible"--i.e., it's small enough that someone can personally reply to you when you contact them. I think a lot of other customers feel the same way. It's not a big hot-shot company like Burpee, or Gurney's, or Park Seed. Lately it seems like it's been harder and harder to get through to them.

Winter, I bet that's just 'cause of the wedding bells! I see Jere even posting, lately, when it's been no-show for months!
I would like to see monthly festivals.

Jere, Sounds like a great mix of themes you have planned.
And the billboard ads should bring in some extra visitors that normally wouldn't know about Baker Creek. We did some extra roadtouring last time we were in MO as the result of billboards on I44.

Jere, I am excited to see the new slate of events at BC. I had been interested in going to your previous shows, but, as a school Principal, the timing of the events would never work for me. I hope to be able to visit you folks sometime this summer!

Haven't heard Hank SR. since I was a kid. Is that the kind of cowboy music we're talkin' about?

Hopefully I'll be able to get up there more often with a monthly opportunity. It would be a good reason to meet the Missouri bunch!

So--are you having a seed sale at each of the events?--- I can see the crisper drawer of the ref filling up with more seeds--

What about bluegrass? Like Doyle Lawson and his Quicksilver bunch?

Speaking of bluegrass entertainment, I hope our very own Cliff Timmons and his band Ozark will be in attendance! ;)

Johno,

Don't think Hank, Sr. will be able to make it. If Cliff is playing, will Jere pay for extra security, to keep the groupies at bay?

Gosh, if I live close by, I would be there in a heartbeat and buy all the goodies.

Instead of April-December, it seems like the September one could be dropped (so close after the August show), and replaced with a January Heritage Days to take advantage of the rare warming that usually folklows New Year's Day in Missouri. Also it's the beginning of the year so it's a good time for that reason too.
