WEll, now be thankful for chicken legs! They could be hippo hips, or thunder thighs or the like. Gardening helps keep us a little more trim and healthier.
Have to say I'm a little jealous though. . .have some pix I'd like to share but a computer dumb-dumb and can't figure out how to get them so you can see them.
And remember,
no matter what happens,
what you are growing,
or where you are at. . .gardening is always a continual adventure!
One I never want to pass up!
Why, I even just planted some more garlic. who would ever think of garlic planted in December, nearly January in the mountains (rather the "knobs") of TN?
Surely it is like Christmas all year long in the garden. Thank the good Lord!

I was a City Slicker all my life..then we got together & I would'nt go back..too much noise..traffic..cop car's every 3 minutes..Here we can do the peacefull thing's. It ( gardening ) is alot of work but look at all the wonderfull thing's you get out of it..Food & lot's of fresh air..something that is missing in the City life.

Wonderful pictures, when it comes to the giant pumpkins, I wish I could have one of those losers....lol.
We lost most of our seed stock this past year.. We decided that a move south to Louisana would be nice. We were just getting settled into our place when Katrina hit. Oh it wiped us out. Got sick, got fed up so we moved North to tennessee. Hope these very humid summers of tennesse will produce a good garden for us this year.

Toby, sometimes I admire the little city gardens, and think how nice it would be to just have that small spot to tend, this is usually my thoughts...around the last of July...Then, around oct., while putting it to rest, I SWEAR, next Year We will go smaller...
We have decided to plant about a third this year, and give the remainder a season of green manure crops...Only Planting time will tell...IF WE ARE Liars!

Pharmerphil -- I know where you're coming from! Even with my "baby" garden, come midsummer with the humidity and heat and WEEEEEDS, I dont' hardly even want to look at the thing! But - by the time winter rolls around and the first seed catalog arrives, that bug bites me HARD!
(Green manure crops - what would kind would you choose?)

I bet it would make more than all of us could eat. LOL For sure it would rot at my house, because I do not like pumpkin pie. Or, I should say I do not like the pumpkin pie spieces. Give me good ole Sweet Tater Pie any day.:D
If you've never had sweet tater pie, you need to try some. Excellent! and I have the perfect recipe if you want it.

they do take up space!
a minimum of 250 sq. ft. is about the smallest you can go and get a Pumpkin Factory! ;)
