LittleChickenFarmer, do you still need squash seeds? If you just need say 3-6 seeds of each kind, I can divvy up last year's saved summer squash and winter squash seeds with you. Also, I can do the same divvying up with my various melon seeds.
Let me know before February, please.

I know I have some acorn squash seeds, possibly two kinds of them (both the gold and the dark green), and some others. Still reorganzing seed envelopes, hope to finish that for warm weather seeds tonight or tomorrow.
Also have some SW winter squash varieties for midhigh elevation. Would you like to try a few of those too if you are not in the flatland part of Tennessee?
Next year if you have any extra hot pepper seeds besides jalapeno, I'd love to have 4-6 seeds of any extra variety, especially lemon-scented or Russian/Ukrainian/Bulgarian hot peppers, or maybe if you still have extra wildflower seeds--up to you, thanks.

Littlechickenfarmer, I don't know what kind they are other than hardshell winter squash but last fall at the library book sale in Dayton one of the area local organic farmers sold me three kinds and I saved seed. Still have one kind left to eat, so know they keep well at c.60 degrees inside.
Wanna try 8-12 seeds of each?
I'm not too good at identifying by pictures but know they aren't butternut or acorn; two had deep orange flesh and sizes varied from round c. 1 lb. to footlong rounded oval c. 3lbs. Probably not pepo or cheese varieties.
Also have some grown-out honeydew fragrant melon and other melon seeds.

Do you have any kin in LA who can send you any LA okra or LA eggplant seeds? If you are in the wet part of TN, they might grow there. (I'm arid zone NV.)

Hope to be going to town and post office c.1/31 so please email with your address reminder by then. Thanks.

OK, in addition to Sue's heirloom/organic saved seeds from the Dayton book sale mystery squash, here's what I have--some are outdated but if planting 3-6 seeds of a variety you should get 2-4 plants of that variety. Most are Baker Creek or PineTree Gardens.

Variety Days Planting Depth

Jarradale 100 1"
Tondo Scuro di Piacenza
Fordhook Acorn
Buttercup 95 1"
Table Queen Acorn 75-90
Australian Butter 90-100
Cream of the Crop Acorn type 75
Green Striped Cushaw 115
Choctaw Sweet Potato *
Melonette de Vendee
Table Gold Acorn

I'll be planting the same 3-6 seeds per variety in different plots; and basically that will finish the packets' contents. *Choctaw did not do well for me the years I planted it before, possibly because we can be very short season here some years. Shorter season winter stuff like the acorns do much better for me. Hope you have a longer growing season!

I goofed. Tondo Scuro di P. is a 51-60 day summer squash; just checked it out on Dave's Garden (you don't have to be a member to access the vegetable info).

Got the bubble wrap, got the saved little envelopes from Lipton's Tea, will post them Tuesday 1/31 when I'm in town at the post office.
A small amount of wildflower seeds*
this year or next would be nice--thanks.
We should compare notes next fall ,lon what varieties did or didn't perform--I'm in valley with some hills around it too, then open space after hills.
*Especially if they come with instructions like broadcast on open ground, or planting depth, little water or frequent water, etc. as I'm not much experienced with flowers!

Looking Forward to the pkg. Hopefully will get some wildflowers in the mail this week.

Will stay in touch on the outcome... We are supposed to be real humid here, the squash should do good...

Thanks in advance

We're really arid here in the late spring/summer/early fall growing months, but I figure if people in AZ and WY and NM can grow squash, if I keep trying, eventually I'll get something besides summer squash in more substantial numbers--sometimes we are a very short season growing area and longer season stuff like some winter squash and pumpkins just don't make it to maturity.
Speaking of pumpkins, does anyone know where to find recipes for green pumpkin stew? And does anyone still dehydrate pumpkins for late winter storage?

The mixta varieties of squash like Cushaw do better in arid climates from what I hear. Sorry I don't have any but I live in a hot and humid climate and grow moschata types as a result.
