I've never been to one of their events but plan to attend this one, I'm wondering if they will have plants for sale? I'd like to pick up some tomato/pepper plants from them if they will have them.

Thanks,

LaRae

I sold a thousand or so last there year. Will be there again. But there will be tons and tons of plants to buy. More than you could drool over. Bring something to carry them back in.

If there is anything specific that you want raised I could probably do that for ya. Or someone else could as well.

I will have all three. But there will be many varieties to choose from. As far as the eggplant goes...I will only have one kind...my fav.....Ping Tung.

Sold out on it last year. It is a great eggplant.

But peppers and maters.....will have bunches.

Later!

I'll have plants for sale too, sold last year as well. I've sown 12 varieties of eggplant so far. Like Chad says there'll be lots and lots of plants. (But hopefully not so many that we have to bring any home.)

There's a group of around 8 to 10 of us going on the Monday the 8th, so I hope there are still plenty of started veggies left to buy, I was kinda wondering if they'd already all be sold out by then. Hoping not!

Books, too. And seeds. And animals. And all sorts of other stuff I didn't realize I needed until I saw it.

LOL hey all you people going as vendors? Would someone be willing to put out some of the neck chillers I make on a table for me? I would offer a percent like a consignment fee and give one to everyone working your tables for you? PM me if willing.

If I can drive up from Louisiana (as I did last year), you can make it from central Illinois.

LOL I wish! I'm just too broke and honestly cant financially swing it. Too much stuff needs to be fixed on my car in short order to allow me to put anything aside to plan for the trip. :( I am planning on the fall one though :)and having a table out of hand crocheted and other items as well as reading tarot cards. It will just be the wrong time of year to sell neck chillers then.

Is there camping near by or on site? I may make a drive up from Atlanta..How long do you think that would take?

They have free camping in a field on-site, as I recall. They are not too far from Springfield, MO.

Mapquest says 10 hours 49 minutes (685 miles) from Atlanta to Mansfield.

As for Mondays; I do almost as well, as Sunday, a vendor on that day, and am able to visit more with the other vendors. After all the year's I've attended the shows there, there is a common joke about Mondays. On Sundays the husbands and wives attend and you will hear the hubbys say"you don't really need that!"-- On the next day, you will see the wife come back, with the checkbook, and say:"I did need that!" Maybe you could carpool with somebody else coming from your area? ;)

Chad,

A month or so ago, you mentioned that you sold over a thousand seedlings at last year's BC spring show. What would you figure as the minimum number of heirloom tomato seedlings to make a booth worth the effort?

Also would appreciate your input on pricing same. PM me, if you will. Not certified organic, but Certified Naturally Grown.

Last spring was my first year for bringing plants to the sale....
alot of the folks that stopped by our site...looking at plants were looking for something specific....
brandy wine tomatoes...swiss chard...and unusual varieties of tomaotes went the best for me...
but I am small beans compard to a lot of the vendors inplants
ther is so much going on at these festivals...you really want to give your self time to go to a few of the free seminars...
and look around at all the"stuff" there...honey soaps jams..you name it....
theres everything....
and it takes hours just to go through the baker creek seed store...really...
Sunday is busy...lots of people...visitng all day with folks from everywhere...
monday really is more of a vendor day ...ha....Roc and I take turns going out and looking at everything...and buying and buying and trading...and talking

Randal is ever present...and really interesting to talk to..
Jere and Emilee are dressed to the nines in their western apparal, snapping pics and hosting and visiting..
theres music and costume contest....
and demonstrations....

I think what I am tryingto say is....besides profitability...give yourself time to enjoy it also.....

Beware tho.........last August we came home with not only veggies but 2 dwarf bunnies! Fortunately, our daughter is old enough to take care of them without being reminded. The tomatoes were awesome, I didn't get to the raspberry plants quick enough (wwaaaaahhh) but we always have fun and its usually my hubby spending more $$ than me! The sheep and goat cheese vendors were great for our son's cow's milk allergy. He was thrilled to eat cheese again. Baker Creek is responsible for the heirloom mania we are now involved in and the raised bed gardening we are starting this year!
