Just wanted to report on my trip to Baker Creek today (okay, technically it was yesterday...) I had a blast!

I finally got to meet some of the wonderful people there, like Myrna, Jere, and Randel. What super folks they are! It's too bad they are SO busy this time of year - I was there for hours, but spent more time picking seeds than shooting the bull. I did have good conversations when they got spare moments here and there. We actually covered a lot of ground between the three of them, everything from lettuce and sweet potatoes to international seed trades to the politics of developing technology - and much more in-between...

Busy busy busy... I had no idea how much the busines had expanded since the last time I was there! There were workers running everywhere, and the store has more than doubled in size. While it was obvious how much work there was to do, at the same time, all day long you could overhear people paying special attention to one customer after another, whether on the phone or in the store - and there was a steady stream of customers in the store. Truly top notch service, from what I could tell. These people really seem to love their work!

I was there to help stock up on seeds for The Heirloom Seed Shop, with Sharon. Holy Cow! We got a lot of seeds. Three big boxes full. I hope she has a good year... It was great fun for a seed-freak such as me. I caught myself grinning from ear to ear!

So much to say, but so tired...

Go To Bed. You had a really big day. And maybe tomorrow when you've had time to process all of this, you will fill us in on more details??
I should be going to bed too..I'm just passing through while I settle details of a seed swap elsewhere...

Did you end up doing what I did when I made my annual "pilgrimage" to Baker Creek this year? Buy way too much seed, and because I was yakking away at so many peaple I know, I bought duplicates too! Oh well, that's what a freezer is for, to keep extra seeds.[ I think I have BC seeds in there from 3 yrs ago] Strong

FP - they didn't have to put me to work, I couldn't help myself... I was answering questions and pointing out the location of seeds people were looking for - muttering to themselves, "Bush Buttercup... Bush Buttercup..."

Strong - Yup. Same here... Too much seed... duplicates... yakking... BC seed from three (ok, 5) years ago...

And how could I forget to mention Andrew?! I guess because we didn't get a chance to talk. That feller had WORK written all over his face! I also met Randel's better half. I would love to have had the opportunity to meet and talk with everyone there, but I'll have to try that in the off-season sometime!

I've already received my seed order from BC, I would go to see every thing there, but am afraid I would end up buying more than I have room for. Some day I am going to go there.

I bought some Missouri lottery tickets on the way home. It started Sharon and I talking about 'what would you do with 8 million dollars?' I guess we both forgot the obvious thing - BUY MORE SEEDS!

Whew--finally have time to comment--I enjoyed meeting Johno, as did my wife Pam. Met Sharon, too, but didn't really have time for more than that. Too bad, I know she's an interesting person and I'd have liked to learn more about her work. But that's the way it goes. Maybe next time.

Ceresone, do be sure to let us know who you are when you come in on Friday. Or perhaps we've already met?

Meeting forum members is really cool, because they're already not strangers. And maybe even already friends!!
