I am fairly new to gardening and really new to the site and have a question about the type of seeds you can trade. I have been getting some seeds from companies like stokes and parks and some are 'hybrids"....are these useless when it comes to trading? Also I am brand new to seed saving and could use any links and helpful beginner sites as well. Thanks as it is already planting season here in Florida and I am eager to learn all I can.

Hybrids are perfectly fine for trading...as long as they're left-overs from your planting. It sounds like you already know that you can't save seed from hybrids.

As far as seed saving references go, I can't recommend any web sites, but "The Seed Starter's Handbook" by Nancy Bubel, and "Seed To Seed" by Susan Ashworth (I think) are both excellent books. The Handbook is very user friendly for beginners, while Seed To Seed is very in-depth.

Good luck!
