The Feb.'06 Progressive Farmer p. 75 has a full page ad by Vernon Barnes and Son re varieties of fruit trees, berries, etc. Prices are much better than Lowes, Home Depot, H. Field, etc. Some are heirloom varieties, ex. 2-3' Arkansas Black apple $3.49 ea. and most have lesser price when ordered in lots of 10; postprepaid with order total (after discount) of $50.
Any one have any input? Is it too good to be true, or ?
Admit I'm tempted--just walked the grounds to see where I could put what.
Going through my ref. stuff to see which varieties might do okay here....

I looked at the watchdog type stuff on the internet and they are highly recomended by people out there. I'm interested for sure. Does one get a catalog directly from Vernon Barnes and Son? I wrote down the address and phone #'s.

Thanks for the info.
No mention made of catalog except it does say "Save up to 40%from catalogue prices:, it is a small print full page ad and I don't have a scanner and don't think the library computers do either.
Their fax # is 931-668-2165.
Really tempted by the 10 rhubarb 1 yr. roots/$7.98, 10 asparagus 1yr. roots/$7.98, cherry and apricot and plum and blackberry.
Ad lists other trees etc. too.
Only thing saving me from going overboard is the winter heating bill that just came today....
