I didn't read up on my fall crops last year before planting and sewed turnips where I had my tomatoes last spring :( I didn't realize my mistake until it became apparent the turnips weren't going to do anything after waiting until a few weeks ago and I got out my book. :o Now I need to yank what few,on the edges of the rows that did anything and get the row ready for another crop. I'm not sure what crop I should follow the turnips with  ...book doesn't say but since you can follow any crop w/ the pea/bean family I was thinking of putting in an early crop of snow peas. Yes?No?

Snow peas will do just fine. I usually follow turnips with beans and always have a good showing.

Do you turn the vines for spent peas back into the soil?

cut the vines off at the ground level and throw them in the compost pile. The roots with the stored nitrogen will slowly release it back into the soil. not turning of soil required.
