here's a bonifide tip to get rid of 11 spotted beetles, the kind that transmit disease to squash and cucumbers[ the kind of disease that lets you get one Zuccini off the bush before the plant flops over dead!] The past 3 yrs I've been trapping the beetles by placing a large "Lagenaria" Goard, [birdhouse, bushel or dipper goard] completely away from the garden area, wetting it and then checking on it each morning with a fly swatter. It'll be covered with the beetles who are addicted to the chemical on the skin of the goard. I was extracting seeds out of a bushel goard two days ago, and was swarmed by about two dozen beetles[ pinch, pinch, pinch] and then they followed me around for an hour until I washed the "bitters' off my hands.
