We have planted a tomato called "Super Italian,"...the main stem has white bumps...the variety is new to us so we don't know what to expect. The plant droops, but has blooms and a tomato! Can anyone help with the white "bumps"...are they a problem?
this is our first post, and we are enjoying the site very much. :)

Don't worry about the white bumps. They are the beginnings of roots trying to form along the stem. A lot of tomatoes get them.

Thanks Tomato Lover. Everybody around here is anxiously watching these three plants. A local nursery has offered to baby any seeds we get from them. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks again.

Really? I have these very strange "bumps" that are appearing aftern the stem splits. It began as yellowish raised lesions, the stem split and now there are these white raised bumps all along the stem. It looks awful and down right scarry. Is there a way to post a digital image to see if we are speaking about the same issue? Cheryl
