Greetings all!

I am searching for some good old fashioned lilac seeds. Not these new-fangled Korean things, but the old variety (French, perhaps?) that has been around for a hundred years or better.

Would prefer seeds if they will grow that way! Anybody know where to look?

If you find a source for seed would you let me know I haven't been able to find any. They can be propagated from cutting in the Spring I've been told and from suckers if you take part of the sucker root.

I have the old fashioned Lilac, both white and pale purple.Very heavy scent. They have been in this garden for over 35 yrs. I'll check to see if there are any seed pods on the taller ones. I'll be more than happy to share them with you guys and gals.

WOW please let me know if you have seeds? I've been promising DIL that I would come up with plants for her. Thanks in advance.

Though I did find pods, they were all open and the seeds gone. Sorry :( . I'll make sure I save seeds this year. I'll make sure I get seeds from both colors.

I too will try to save some seeds. We have a couple of old lilac bushes that have to date back 90 years. Never tried to save the seed. Too easy to dig up the little saplings that grow around the bottom. Always looking to try something new. Will let you know if I can harvest some seed.

Donsgal, I'm in Springfield and have 3 old fashion lilacs in the yard. I would be glad to give you seed from them or to dig one of the many saplings that come up in the summer if you come this way sometime.
