Can anyone out there help! I am a gardener in Spain and have a big problem with mole crickets, they eat one lettuce root a day (heart breaking! :( ) Is letuce their favouite snack? Are there any good non chemical ways of getting rid of these terrors!! Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

I used to work in a pet warehouse in Denver. They used potato pieces to feed the crickets grown for reptile food. I have no idea if it is the preferred food, but they would all congregate on the potato, and I would think it would be easy to GET them if they like potato. Also, I observed that the crickets would lay their eggs in the water dishes which had cotton balls in them so the bugs would not drown. All this in cages, but nobody else has replied, so thought maybe this would be worth 2 cents... good luck.

Thanks dirtundernails!!!!! what an interesting post!! thanks for the reply, Just planted my spuds near the attacked lettuce, fingers crossed the terrors won't go for them. I will place some spuds in strategic places. Thanks again!
