No it's too political here in my opinion. Sad that political trash clogs up a perfectly nice gardening forum.

Very true, I'm hoping it is because of the election.

I really enjoy the political threads, even though I never contribute, they are great to read and follow.

It's very few that are actually about the "Politics of FOOD" tho.

I've enjoyed reading some of the political info and although it isn't always directly related to food it is in the long run when we elect officials. There are a lot of issues on the table or coming to the table that will affect our food in the very near future including NAIS, and GMO's. Having said that I have noticed that some of these are merely breaking down into pointless arguments ususally between the same 2-4 people. I can't wait until seed starting day.

Faces, is in Off Topic, and it will continue to grow..
What am I, is in General Digging,
Politics of Food forum has been Hi-Jacked into an allout Politics of Whatever includes Politics, but I dont think that will ever change, we had a debate about this, and it is what it is.

Ovenbird, that is a nice status report on the all-time posted to threads, record currant to date, I have never seen this in view before, thanks....Blane.

I thought "Politics of Food" was going to be about how new laws relate to food production, llivestock, organics, GMOs etc..That's what it should be about IMO. This is supposed to be a gardening forum.

I am sure there are plenty of political forums out there for people who want to voice their opinions. And its always those topics in which people are very nasty to each other. I am sure the mods have better things to do with their time than edit posts all day. Like real work or sleep;). I am sure they are just a little busy at Baker Creek right now.

This is what I thought too, but many interpret it as "chewing the fat about politics" or "hot pepper political opinions".

Still, it is interesting to read opinion from like minded and unlike minded people. In this gardening forum, I think people feel very comfortable to express their opinions. Perhaps under these conditions there is a better head/heart balance in the opinions.

8 forums. 7 non political. MOST related to gardening.

Some people don't like tomatoes. Simple. Don't plant any.

Some people don't like politics. Simple. Don't talk about it.

The owner of this forum decided to put in a political section, and regularly contributes.
Therefore anything he wants to do is his business, and if one does not like it, that can start their own little forum. (And I will be happy to sell them the hosting. :) ) <unabashed self promotion!>
Please don't complain about the ones that do, and try to tell them they shouldn't.

It seems rather selfish to think that this board and forum were created to serve some individual user(s) interests, imo.

Ovenbirds little reseach tells another side of the story. Much of the chatter is in the political section, therefore, it MUST be of interest... And since the owner decided to create it, and contribute to it, it is as valid as any other part of this board. It does not "clutter" up anything... You no like, you no click. you know?

Just my two seeds worth... :)

What if you just consider it fertilizer for the garden forums?

YUP! What DUN said.... :) If you don't like it, just consider it compost!

(We know a certain person <not on this board> that whenever they want to say something, we just take them to the garden, because it keeps us from having to shovel it. ) :p

whelp, we're supposedly a nation involved in two wars...make that one war and one occupation...tho many are not affected by them. i see an important need here for discussion of both a political nature...i.e. where are we going with these wars, who caused them, do they need correction, etc....and a gardening nature, cause, if something, oh say like our economy was to collapse all of a sudden due to these wars, our admin's policies, etc..., and we didn't discuss it and turn it around, c'est la vie, would we still be able to garden?!

i agree, the choice is up to each individual whether they want to participate or not.

nice summation of the threads ovenbird!

I believe the biggest frustration comes when the threads dwindle down into a 2 or 3 peson all out war on who is on what side. At that point no one is learning things other than how to insult your neighbor in new and exciting ways. We need to discuss all things that affect us, but I would like to see it done in a nicer manner.

Kathryn
