Canna lilies? Ginger? They grew well all summer in southern Louisiana for me. Cannas get kind of grungy lookin' after they flower, though. But come back every year, and spread!!

Hey Yebel2; Gingers are a good choice as are Heliconia's,Birds of paradise, and Orchids.I grow all of these in CA.Also the Night Blooming Cereus blooms there in the Summer.
I understand from your post that you are probably looking for less tropical types-but why swim upstream?

Hi! I'm new to this site and am finding it hard to navigate. I'm looking for a either a good neighbor that has yellow canna lilies to dig or information on where I can find some plants. I live in Birmingham, Alabama and have called most of our nurseries, including the Botanical Gardens. I can take a "road trip" if it's not too far. I only need 5 - 10 plants and if I can ask for "the moon", I'd love to have plants that are already 3 - 4 feet tall (bigger is fine). Can anyone help me?? ****Also I'm open to info on how to get my request to the right place on this site!! Thanks!
