I have some seeds from a variety of chiltepins(AKA Bird peppers and a few other names). They're VERY hot, bright red, and about the size of sweet peas.

From what I have read these pepper seed are difficult to germinate. What has been your experience with them?

I'm trying them for the first time this year, too. I'm considering gibberellic acid as a germination aid.

Yeah, I think they are a bit hard to germinate. Some pre-soaking might help. My pepper plant is more than 10 years old now. I planted the original in a pot, and I bring it inside every winter. I did try planting a few last year, but wasn't able to take care of the garden as much as I'd like to, so I'm not sure whether any of them germinated.

I grew these a couple years ago without any problems with germination. I soaked the seed for 24 hours then planted with a soil temp of at least 80 degrees (Used my van as a greenhouse!).

Looking for what I know as bird eye hot peppers that Mama used to grow. These were extremely hot peppers and the size was about the size of a sweet pea and came in a varied of colors on the bush, red, green, purple and sometimes a blue color. Right now do not have anything to trade but willing to buy a few seeds if anyone has these. Also looking for again what I knew was called Rooster spur hot peppers. If anyone has these, please let me know. Many thanks.
