I started more pepper plants than I have room for and would be glad to give them to someone in the Springfield MO area. Have a couple of each of these up for grabs, white bullett habanero, Jimmy's little white hot and tiger pepper. You can pick them up at my house or I could possibly meet someone at the farmers market (Battlefield mall parking lot) Saturday morning.

Mary,
Might be interested...I have plants out my ears right now...but you do have some varieties that I wanted to grow but didn't. (I have a batch of reserves growing right now that are getting big and they are only 17 days old or so.) I don't know about saturday...but I can sure give it a try. Springfield is about 2 hours from me.
Let me know if you still have them by then....or maybe we can work something else out?
Thanks!
Chad

It doesn't have to be by Saturday (unless you are just wanting to go to the farmers market). The plants are not enormous but probably as big as any that you get in the 4 or 6 pack cells at the discount stores. Don't know if you would consider them worth a two hour trip the way gas prices are though.

Marty, If you don't find anyone here to take them off your hands might I suggest that you contact a local 4H or Future Farmers of America. Maybe some of the youngsters can learn about growing heirloom peppers through your generosity. Just a thought.

I would love them, as I have had the worst luck with mine. Only thing is that two of my kids are just getting over chicken pox, with a third due to break out on the 19th ( maybe ), and we are on the tail end of this nasty cold. If you still have them in a week or so, and we are free from pox, I'm close enough to Springfield to meet you there. I absolutely don't want to expose anyone to anything.
thanx

Dirtundernails, how do you know that one is due to breakout on the 19th?
I never had chicken pox as a child but the doctor thought I had them at 23 years old. If I did, I didn't have them that bad. I have had the nasty cold as well but I do about half of my life because I work in daycare wiping little noses and being sneezed on all day. We don't see many chicken pox anymore since the kids all have to be immunized against them to get into school.
The peppers are yours for the taking or anyone else who claims them first.

There is a two week incubation period for chicken pox. The most contagious time is two days before symptoms appear. Two kids broke out on the 7th. Add two weeks = 21st. Minus two days for exposure to most contagious time = 19th. I guess this is actually the earliest I expect a breakout with about a week window. This also makes the 17th a likely very contagious period for child # 3. I have a fourth kiddo, too, who had them ( it ) when he was 4 and is now 13. I researched the vaccine and found that on top of being dangerous, the likelihood of getting shingles as an adult is must higher. Painful worse that pox, so I forgo the vaccination. Besides, it's a lie that you HAVE TO vaccinate for public school. Jumping off the soapbox, now.
Yes, daycare will expose you to lots of colds and stuff. Thank you for making the choice to care for children, anyway. :D
I think cReAtIoN gRoAnS was first, but would love to plant your peppers in my dirt. Mine blew off the table in the wind outside while hardening off, and I have two left. :(

My garden is mostly at my parents house. Was there and checked the plants I had already planted and unfortunatley some of my peppers bit the mud. I know the expression is bit the dust but in this case it is mud!!! I'm sad because many were types I only had a couple of and they both croaked. I know we were in a drought for a long time but that much rain in that few days wreaked havoc on my gardening plans. I definitley have a few Jimmy's little white hots to share and a couple purple tigers but I may have to repo most of the habs.

Well, the majority of the plants that looked like goners pulled through. HOORAY!!!
I found a home for a couple of my plants but still have a couple Jimmy's Little White Hots and a white bullett hab. They need to go in the ground or a bigger container bad . The Jimmys are blooming in their little yogurt cup. If you are going to be in Springfield any of you are still welcome to them but don't know that they are worth a special trip .
