I Have in my possesion a very rare strain of garlic my pastor's family brought with them when they settled near Salem, IL 150 years ago. It is called pioneer garlic and only once when a salesman from a seed company showed up at our farmer's market to purchase it did it make it to a heirloom catalog.
I also have Rabbit's Head Larkspur plant in my possesion from the same family. These are different from the giant imperial larkspur. Their blooms are not as big and actually have a rabbits head inside the bloom. Anybody Interested?

I'll pass altho' wish I could take you up on it....we absolutely LOVE garlic in my house. I don't think I can grow it....billions and billions or rocks, stones and boulders not to mention the compacted clay dirt I am still working on. I've got some of the dirt "refurbished" for the other veggies but I am still working on much more...one day I WILL grow garlic! :D

Frankly, I'm still thinking tho' ;)

To everybody in this forum, I would like to trade for unsual lettuce seed, cucumber seed, sunflower seed, and radish seed. I would appreciate if postage and handling are paid. If you do not have these seeds you can call me at home at (217)-932-2389 and we can work out any arrangements. I'm sorry I did not respond sooner than now but as weather permitted yesterday I was out in the garden before the rains come again. For a good description of this garlic this what it is, a excellent adapting red hardneck that will grow in ANY soil. But the more sun and richer dirt in can grow very large. It is very closely related to native American Strains of garlic because eaten raw it carries the punch of a hot pepper. One clove equals the same pungency of ten regular cloves of garlic. This garlic will grow in any of the zones here in the U.S. This was and still is one of the most requested items at my local farmer's market. The Rabbit's Head larkspur is a native prairie flower almost driven to exctinction because here in Illinois the farmer's thought of it as a common weed in the way. They sprayed Roundup on it and only a few individuals in my area of East Central Illinois still have it and appreciate the simple God-given beauty of these native plants. Humming birds and honeybees love it! We also combine the garlic and larkspur to create an organic safe pesticide to KILL Japanese Beetles! The larkspur does need chilly temps after it drops its seeds to germinate, just like most native prairie flowers. Look forward to hearing from all of you! Thanks CanTFail Jim!
