Does anybody know where I can buy or trade for Barracker's Favorite tomato seed? I got some from Chuck Wyatt year's ago, but I lost my seed.John L
My burracker Favorite tomato seed was not planted until may 1. I set one plant in the garden (isolated) June 1. The plant produced big 1.5 pound bistriped tomatoes August 5. I will save my seed and not loose this variety again. By the way, I live in southeast Missouri about 50 miles south of St. Louis and 35 miles east of the M<ississippi River.

Try the Garden Web forum. Haven't used it, however, after doing a search for your tomato there are several people discussing your Favorite on there and they maybe able to help you.

Another would be to join SSE as a mbr so that you have access to all the varieties the members are growing.

What about Seed Savers Exchange-www.seedsavers.org
I am not sure if they are in this years catalog, but if not mistaken, Chuck Wyatt
used to grow out seeds for them. I have called Seed Savers on the phone with
questions before and they are very helpful.

Sorry SSE is Seed Savers Exchange. I should have written it out for you. But yes, they are most helpful.

Jodi,
Are you a member of Seed Savers Exchange and do you offer anything? I pay for membership every year to support the orginazation, but have not offered anything to trade as I am afraid I just do not save enough seed to openly trade.
I know that seeds can be offered in limited amounts and for traders only, but was just curious on about how many requests are made for seeds.

I grow a few varieties of colored cotton, but only in small amounts as I save most of my space for vegetables. I would like to offer it in very limited amounts, but may only be able to fill a couple of requests.

Currently I'm not a SSE member, although I recently filled out the mbrship form. I have my list, of most of my things, for possible trade listed at this forum under Trading Bazaar. You can look there. I think if you call the Seed Saver Exchange and talk to them they would probably agree with my thinking. . .just offer if you have any to trade. Sometimes people want to take advantage asap and sometimes they wait and so do the seeds. You would be just listing what you have on a limited availability until the following year.

Growing the cotton sounds fun but haven't had the space the last several years for any non-essentials. Seems like there is someone in Knoxville, TN that grows heirloom varieties of cotton for part of her spinning. Growing pure cotton non-gmo is truly difficult these days!

hope this helps answer your questions,
Jodi
