I've been to this site, and it is a rather comprehensive list. I also found this piece of news in the June 2006 issue of Alternative Health and may help when people are at their local grocery store.

"When it comes to buying produce, it can be difficult to determine whether fruit comes from the farm or the laboratory. But now, label-savvy consumers can find out. Before you bite into that Granny Smith, glance at the PLU barcode, or price lookup number: Organically grown produce has a five-digit PLU that begins with the number nine; genetically engineered produce has a five-digit PLU beginning with eight."

I would not go by the price lookup #. Those #'s would be different at different stores. WMart and Shop Rite will not have the same PLU # for bananas. But every WMart in the country should. In fact, if 2 different chains are owned by the same parent company they might use the same #'s. A barcode is unique to a specific product like a copyright.

If a PLU starts with an '8' and has 5 digits (e.g. 85433), it is ALWAYS a GMO crop. That is U.S. agricultural practice.
