A few years ago I planted a couple calla lily bulbs. Nothing happened and I assumed they didn't make it. So, I planted some columbines in that bed. Then the next year, I had columbines and this plant came up, made a stalk and a couple nice looking leaves. That was it. Next year, same thing. Last year, same thing. This year, my friend said, what is that and I said, I have no idea. A couple days later, I came home, and there it was , a calla lily!* I was so surprised. It was like getting an unexpected gift.* Isn't it pretty?

Springfever,'
What lucky gardener you are. We had this also happen where I work. It looks like you may have the same variety as ours. The one my boss planted is sheltered in a courtyard area near a brick building. it has only ever flowered a few times.I think she may have a micro climate in the courtyard.

Springfever, That's a pretty one, with beautiful foliage. I keep some in bit pots every summer, but dig up the bulbs, I didn't think they were winterhardy, you've proved that they are. Once they get going they'll multiply quickly.

Maybe they are protected by the columbines? I say they, I should say it. (smile)
