Hello,
in mowing my yard today I found 4-5 Passion fruit vines growing behind my house, wild. They are up about 2 feet at the moment. Killed one Japanese beatle on one vine.
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about growing/caring for these plants as to actually have healthy plants and fruit from them. Please, if you do, share so we can save these plants. Thanks!

i know this is kinda late, (i'm a new member) but maby it will help some one out next spring....
passion fruit are easy to grow! they fruit best in full sun but still grow good in part shade - you just wont get alot of fruit.
they have to have some thing to grow on - like a fence or an arbor - they can get a good 15 foot long or so.
moist well drained soil is good. compost or good loamy soil and they may supply the neiborhood with fruit. but they arnt picky and will grow in regular soil.
actually this is about the time to go out and start looking for ripe fruit....mmmmmm....
they start to get ripe when you gently press on them and they feel papery and the indention stays - when they fall off the vine - or when they turn yellow (they don't nessisarily have to be yellow to be ripe) and they stay good in the shell for a long time after it dries and shrivels if it isn't too hot. i guess if you picked a lot and stored them in a cool dry place they would make it at least a month... i don't know mine usually, don't even make it home. they get eaten as their picked or on the walk back.
