Welcome to our forums!
This online gardening community is different, political, and organic. I decided to start these forums so gardeners would have a free place to discuss heirloom gardening, gene-altered food, seed saving, natural politics and products. We are dedicated to saving our food and horticultural heritage, and hope you enjoy this forum for the free-thinking gardener!
Wishing you great gardening,
Jere Gettle
Hi Bellzey. I was up in North Texas - Red River Valley - and saw so much destruction from the fires. Then I got home, and the first thing I heard was the fires in Bastrop - sure hope it didn't affect you and your family. Thinking about you, hoping all is well.
Glad to hear the maters and peppers are doing well. My Red Noodle beans looked like they might not make it at first, but then they got up and grew. Now I'm HAVING to pick every 2nd day. I only planted around 12 plants, but they are producing like crazy for about the past week. I'm having my best tomato year so far (I think partly by sheer number of plantings). Patty-pan and Marrow squash just started producing. Winter squash are still trying to get their act together. I have gotten 3 Poona Khera cukes so far, but they have a hint of bitter in them (too little water combined with heat I think). Armenian cukes haven't started producing yet. Watermelons are beginning to flower. I have 1 or 2 Blacktail Mountains that have set in the last couple of days. Onions are having a tough time with lack of water. Same for garlic. Greens are done for except for swiss chard.
Btw, I got 1 tequila sunrise pepper ripe so far. I liked it. Kind of fruity taste I wasn't expecting. Very neat.
