Good job. Nothing like fresh homemade pickles. My plants are producing now. I'll be at it soon.

I like the bread and butters too. Looks like you've got a good supply.
We're in the middle of a hot, hot spell here so everything's struggling. I'm getting a few cukes, but I'd sure like more.

I've never made any, but want to terribly. I'm too scared...I've heard horror stories about the pickles not turning out right.

My first year to can pickles and I tried several different ways, seems every canner person has their own recipe. Some turned out ok, some real good and some great, but every single batch was far better than store bought.

If you don't try you will never learn. When I learned to bake bread I baked lots of boat anchors instead of bread, but I learned by doing and now make some top notch bread.
There is nothing like a good home made pickle around Christmas time.

There are several kinds of pickles that are easy to make. Just pick an easy recipe from a reliable source and go for it. I bet you'll be glad you did.

Last year I canned for the first time and I was really nervous too. First, pickles are really easy AND hard to screw up from a safety perspective -- probably one of the safest things to can.
Definitely pick a reliable source. I bought the "Ball Blue Book". Then follow the instructions carefully, and they will be fine!!

I'm wondering if anyone has a good recipe that keeps the pickle crunchy? I made great bread and butter, but I really like crunchy, and havent found the recipe for that yet.
