i have some green zebra from baker that came out a large yellow/gold beefsteak with PL and atv, and no gs. any ideas on what it is guys? im saving the seeds from all the specimens. its one of three options, spilled seed from some other variety, crossed zebra, or zebra offtype coming out of latency. i was hoping someone at baker creek or someone else growing the same seed had any input.

Hi Emerald and hi to all! I'm a new member but I'm addicted to this forum already.
I'm in Zone 5b in Upstate NY. I have only been gardening for the past 3 years. Before that I was living in an apartment so I was unable to have a garden. I started my first garden with mostly tomatoes and some cucumbers & peppers. The next year I added more vegetable and I started some seeds for the first time. This year, I started all of my vegetable from seeds and moved the garden to a better location and made it bigger. It's now about 20' x 40'. This is a great learning place. |

My growout was a complete failure! I was attempting to grow out Texas Longhorn peas, but didn't get a drop of rain! I planted them to far away to get water to them. Thanks for reminding me. I need to get ahold of Randel and let him know.

Perhaps it could have been the pot I used...or cooked it at too high of a temp. but I'm pretty sure that I used a stainless steel pot...so per haps I boiled it too fast, I don't know all I do know is it was awful |

Mainly by spoon and hand, most of the melons i've grown the seeds are clustered together, so it doesn't take all that long, plus i'm picking them at their ripest for the seed.

Woah, watermelon wine...that gets me to thinking about watermelon brandy and how good that would be. I had prickly pear brandy recently and it was super delicious. I can only imagine how good watermelon brandy would be.
