Hey, I just bought some R. pinnata 'Fireworks' and was wondering if anyone had any advice/experience with this plant.
Also, just thought I'd mention that this is my first year growing scabiosa (Pincushion flower) and I love it!!!

I have one light yellow scabiosa plant from last year. It was only two feet tall last year. This year it is at least four feet tall. I had to stake it and tie it up. My only problem is I like to let the seeds dry and collect them to trade. The gold finches love the seeds, too. They eat them before they are dry enough.

I grow the blue ones, which are really light purple in color. They spread themselves. I keep mine deadheaded, which usually gives me three rounds of blooms per growing season. I think my plants are six years old.

Nice pix! Is that true white, or an off white? I love how the flower head transforms
from something barren looking to an unbelievable prufusion of petals (bracts?). I bought six Scabiosa ( atropurpurea ) from a local plant sale. Wow, that's one of the darker flowers that has ever bloomed for me; my Black Watchman hollyhock has yet to yield flowers. That might be due to the fact that I keep digging it up and moving it around...

good point! well, I bought four R. pinnata and put two in the front and two in the back (near the garage -- more shade). I await results!
