Hi, am new to this but does anyone out there have any experience in growing Italian Eggplant. Had no trouble with seed germinating but now seedlings are at a standstill. Any help?

Hello and welcome. What are you using for lighting? Are the seedlings in real dirt yet, or a seedling starter medium?

Eggplant seedlings have a way of doing that. They won't usually really take off until it's HOT.

Hi ar, I see this is your first post so a big welcome to you!.
Keep your seed under light, that usually gives the warmth to germinate and grow. Mine went great guns and have slowed down now. Let us know how they do for you |

johno is right HOT! Eggplant, Armenian cukes, and Asian yardlong beans like it in my garden in 90 to 100 degrees when everything else is looking for shade! I have noticed that the eggplants I set out a little early do not grow as well as later planted seedlings when the ground is very warm. They don't like being put out early in cool nights or cool soil.

I planted only six seeds this year, and now that they are under the lights are taking off nicely. Try the lights till it get's warm enough to plant outside.

Took them out from under the lights and put them outside on porch and nights have still been really cool but not cold. Am going to transplant them out into real soil and put them back under the lights and give them some more time. I may be just anxious. |
