Looks like we are in for a few days of cold but most still have power. Be interesting to see how long before cabin fever sets in.

Got lots of ice but not as much as they predicted as we got this snice stuff (snow/ice pellets) raining down on us for hours last night instead of sleet and ice which meant instead of an inch of ice on everything we got under 1/2 inch. But I know that people just to the north, west and east of us have not been so lucky
We may have 3 hoop houses down (but they always look a lot worse than they actually are when they go down) but if that is the worst of the damage we got very lucky Lost power for only a couple of minutes last night, though we have high winds now and lots of wires heavy with ice so I expect something to break before the winds die. The electric company is on the job. They hired in an extra 100 or so trucks and linemen from Elliot Power (I watched 30 or so drive by our house on their way likely to gather and than get out and put the poles and wires back up. Quite the procession) and I saw that these guys plus the locals were out enforce all day and night trying to keep the power on. I give a ton of Kudo's to the linemen working out in this horrible weather.

Blizzard early this morning..Farther north than expected...Blowing/drifting snow, white out conditions...All area schools/colleges closed...Warnings to stay off roads..Hubby and son went to work and made it OK..took a while...
Looks like it is now calming down, still windy..So far 10 inches here. Been awake since 4 am...Zombie state! |

Ice storm last night, not too thick and could be banged to crack, then scraped off the cars after they warmed up a bit. Now its raining. But it's raining over at least two feet of snow on the ground. This is how floods happen. I bought a house on a hill so I'm not worried, but for the people at sea-level it is a problem if it doesn't drain quickly.

The storm has passed. We did not lose power. Ice/sleet was not as heavy as predicted. Luckily we did not lose any trees. We are under a Travel Warning which means no travel except for emergency personnel due to icing on the roads.
I don't know if the storm was over-hyped or just didn't develop to it's full potential, but Snowmageddon/Icecatastrophe 2011 has not been that bad for us.
