When the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Is this man truly a genius? Checked it out , this is true...it DID happen!
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all). After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. It could not be any simpler than that. Remember, there IS a test coming up. The 2012 elections. |

Well, we can all find fault with Socialism, but in the meanwhile we suffer another sort of system, possibly more unjust.
Winner take all. A well funded Hardware Chain can go into a community and negotiate for special favors from the municipality, promising more jobs and revenues to come. Once they open up, with the financial blessing of the local City Council, they proceed to undersell and drive Mom and Pop merchants out of business. But as we all know.......supply and demand. The marketplace will equalize all things. Laizzes faire capitalism. Winner take all. Then the local small shops close up. Fire their employees, who then march over to the big box Store ,which offers them part time hours and barely minimum wages. But at least the evil government did not interfere winner take all. All is fair in love and war .........and commerce. We may not pay homage to Karl Marx, but we do have another sort of cult hero for Supply Side, free market Capitalism... ![]() Ayn Rand. |

Today while buying the grandnephew some books for Christmas I received a discount coupon for Old Navy at the checkout. I went over there to see if I could find something worth 10$ off. I quickly remembered why I hadn't been there in years. It was all cheaply made junk that wouldn't last 6 months before it fell apart. I persisted and finally found some long sleeved shirts that didn't look to bad. As usual I looked at the labels, ones said made in Vietnam and one said made in Pakistan. I walked out of the store and made sure to wipe the dust off of my feet.(religious quote for the nonbible readers)

The most basic of all, humanism.

I went shopping to day. Its Saturday not long before Christmas & I had a day to shop so tryed to buy every thing in one day.
Started at THE BATTERY SHOP had a person that needed a hard to find battery & wanted a solar powered charger for other batteries. Store was closed at 2;00 in the afternoon so will buy it on line. Wanted a cooling pad for a lap top with no fan & an area for using a mouse . Wanted one just like the one I bought last year at wallmart. Well Wallmart no longer carryes one like that . After going all over town found no one carries it . After looking on the internet looks like We have a one of a kind product that can not be replaced . It was a keck of a day . Not one item on my list of 5 items could be gotten today. Did buy another thing or two but it was not what I wanted . If these stores want business they need to carry what people want to buy rather than what China sends & they need to be open so people can buy from them. I feal less sorry for MOM & Pop all the time. I wanted to buy About 200 bucks worth of stuff from the moron that runs the battery shop but hes closed on one of the few days a working person can buy stuff. Hes all so closed evenings that a working person might buy stuff . Guess they only want to sell to people on welfare or the moneyed few that can take a day off when ever they want. Ya I could could shop anyday I want but I'm a grump old cuss & will order on line . He will not see my face in that store again. MOM & POP don't want to be bothered with doing business so they go broke.
