I went to Walmart and the girl was throwing away all these "cuties" boxes so I decided, hey, why not plant my violas in them. I think it turned out cute with matching colors of flowers to the box colors for something that will be thrown out. When I put a new pot on my porch table, this will go in my shade garden to break down and just meld into my soil.

Thanks, I've got extra if you need one. LOL They are so colorful and match the colors of the viola so I thought what the heck, go for it, hopefully if we get a freeze they'll survive being on the porch, what a weird weather year! Its got me worn out from covering and uncovering and think tomorrow I'll just be having a big huge bunch of flowers to take to work to decorate everyone's desk. LOL

I like using different stuff (most times things being thrown away) as containers. Found a wood crate that would be neat to put burlap in and fill with dirt and plant in and also fished out a wicker like trunk I guess you'd call it, support wood strips came through the lid handle broke so only about 8-10 inches left on each side, perfect to staple to the lid to make it stay open and then you won't see the pushed through piece of wood and plant in. Yep, just call me trash picker. LOL I'll post pics when I end up planting them.

Oh and GennyL, I've got some HUGE lettuce plants in the garden from last fall that are just gorgeous, it will be like a flower in a girl's hair to add a few of those as garnishes to my big salad, think I'll have to pull the whole plant (plate size) so its a pretty presentation. LOL

Very good find! Just one less thing to use for the garden rather than have it in the landfill.

Looks good Skippy!
...I like to "think outside the box" for containers as well.
