Welcome to our forums! This online gardening community is different, political, and organic. I decided to start these forums so gardeners would have a free place to discuss heirloom gardening, gene-altered food, seed saving, natural politics and products. We are dedicated to saving our food and horticultural heritage, and hope you enjoy this forum for the free-thinking gardener! Wishing you great gardening, Jere Gettle |

I don't know exactly how this has all come to pass, but here I am, a prepper of sorts. Well, I guess I have to admit, I do know how I came to be a prepper-just not like the prepper types you see on the TV show, Doomsday Preppers.
Conspiracy theorist? Well, of course! I believe there is a conspiracy started long ago by the grand author of destruction himself-Lucifer (Satan). So, this is my hobby. To prepare for a long run of difficult times coming our way. What is the basis for my decision? Well, I could list many, but the bottom line in from the Judeo-Christian Bible, Matthew chapter 24 and 25, and 2 Timothy 3. I have no intention of "bugging out". I have every intention of protecting what I have worked hard for and have pledged to take care of my elderly neighbors, sick and injured, and children. That is a small group of people...maybe only 8 or 9, and realistically, that is all I can do. So I grow much of my own food, I know how to hunt and preserve meat in various ways, refrigeration may not be a part of the future, so I can and dry meat, along with other forms of preservation. I live a "small life". Small home, compact, no need for propane, electricity, should that go away, but I do live on the grid for now. I guess I just want to encourage my idig pals to consider the times...prepare for yourselves and hopefully for your extended families. If you live in the cities or urban areas, I am sorry. Here is the bottom line from Matthew 25. The parable of the 10 virgins. Half of them did not prepare....therefore, sorry Charlie, I am not obligated to share what I have with you. You did not prepare. What are your thoughts and motivations?

Is that the old parable about how crickets fiddle while the ants store away food for the winter?
But don't the ants end up eating cricket carcasses in the end? GGG

well, humansd will eat each other in the end, might have already begun. Maybe not literally.
Wwe used to be a lot more 'imnto' prepping back in the 70s but have grown away from that for the most part. we still grow a lot and put up a lot. We can survive most calamities. but, we like to live well, within our means. |

I have watched the shows and feel some are a lil over board to say the least, but I am kinda a prepper I can good from the garden for a years worth (If I don't give it away) But other stuff I do not do .. I don't have a safe haven to go to , but really who knows where safe would be anyway?? I like to dehydrate stuff so it can be used later like in the middle of winter when plenty is not around.. I don't hoard stuff for ten years worth of eating ... and living off the grid without electric or gas .. But it wouldn't be bad to have enuf food to eat for a month or two .... As in sharing we are a very giving couple, I cannot watch my neighbor starve if I have food .... So I would share
Work together and alot of stuff is possible!
